I am planning to relocate to Malaysia soon and need to know what would constitute a "good salary" for their economy. I am a psychologist and would like to live comfortably once I get there.

that depends on whether you will be tied to a private hospital or you will be opening your own clinic. the consultants here can rent a clinic in the hospital and take all the earnings or get a certain precentage of salary if they are hired by the hospital. But overall the cost of living in Malaysia isn't that high. Renting an apartment would cost about RM1k and food (depends on what you eat) - a good meal would cost RM5 the most each

you can live a decent life with a salary of RM 3k permonth.. if you're earning more than that it should be a surplus. however, if you're planning to bring your wife & kids (if you're married).. your earning should be more than 5k to live comfortably.

The cost of living in Malaysia is actually really cheap incomparing to nearby neighbouring countries or perhaps in the world.. Accommodation ranged from RM 700 - RM1000 for normal housing, RM 3,500 to RM 5k for luxury apartment or double story house and can go up to RM10k and above for Bungalows..and it also depends on the area.. Transportation - Public transport are damn cheap! but if you prefer driving your own, then getting a car also is a good choice as the Malaysian cars are kinda cheap.. Food - Malaysia are rich with foods and you name it you will get it..and price of course depends what kind of food you want and the restaurant...if its a posh restaurant then expect to pay an average of RM30.00 a meal normal breakfast at a typical mamak restaurant which include Roti Chanai ( Malaysian popular pancake) and a Tea Tarik ( a must have drink in Malaysia) would only gonna cost you a mere RM3.00 !! ( USD$0.90 !!) but anyway, everything is damn cheap over here in Malaysia!! Enjoy!!
