Due to my job, I used to travel around SEA countried, and I found that the price and quality of live mud crab in Indonesia is better than Malaysia, so can I bring 1 or 2 kg of the crabs when I back to Malaysia? is there any custom rules to follow?

for small quantity - just " hand carry " quantity-weight less than 4/5 kg NO PROBLEMS at all. custom take it as own use ! any things more than " hand carry " quantity-weight custom take it as COMMERCIAL . subject to foods / sea foods import rules .

wow.. i love watchin snakes on the plane, its sooo scarierr, way scarierr if u put kruger and khurafat altogether, wish that there will be sequel for that film. err, "crabs on the plane", sound good, it will be scary if the crab is 6 foot 7,, well, mr crab can star on that fllm, he is 6 foot 7, hehe...

Properly packed and hand carried there should be no problems if it is only 2 kgs. If your bag is over 5kgs, you won't be allowed to carry it on board by the airline. Strictly, there are laws restricting the export/import of live animals and plants [or parts]....there are conditions and permits and quarantine provisions.....this is standard practice the world over... but I suppose these will be ignored in Indonesia and Malaysia..... As for custom duties, there should be none, as the small amount will be considered as for self consumption; but customs offices may "gacau" you....

If it is live, consult the Malaysian Veterinary Department. Any animal including Crab (Crustacean) from other country will need to quarantine to prevents disease contamination from overseas. You must declare for inspection at the Custom on all food, plant material and animal products upon arrival in Malaysia to ensure they are free of pests and diseases.

i don't think so. anyway, just look at custom webs..coz, let's say it is forbidden, then your crab will be taken by teh custom officer and become their dinner..hehe
