Which do you prefer to live in or visit Malaysia or Thailand

Which do you prefer to live in or visit Malaysia or Thailand? Why?
Many people that I have spoken to prefer Thailand over Malaysia. Mostly because the people seem to be more outgoing and the culture is more tolerant of foreigners. What do you think?

neither.

Thailand by far. The people are friendlier, shopping is better, everything is cheaper and the country is far more beautiful.

Well I have a REALLY good friend who has told me MANY times that Thailand is much better, 1.) for their shopping, 2.)the scenary is breathtaking, and 3.) the people are very kind and tolereant of foreigners!!! Hope it helps!! I really hope to visit there, it sounds FANTASTIC!!!! :)

i'd choose malaysia over thailand anytime.. malaysia is more developed and malaysians tolerate foreigners just as much as any thai person but malaysians dun use prostitution or cheap sales to celebrate tourist or to promote tourism that way. the only reason thais are more flamboyant and social when it comes to foreigners has only one reason that contributes to that factor which is the money factor. the thai bhat is so low that any foreigner would be looked up upon cos they can afford anything in thailand. even malaysians are worshiped in thailand!! thailand may be the cheap getaway but when it comes down to civilisation and lifestyle i would personally choose malaysia over thailand anytime!! the educated class definitely out numbers the poorer classes unlike thailand.

Malaysia. It's almost always possible to find someone who speaks English. While it is a Muslim country, except few east coast peninsula cities, tolerant to foreigners. It is less likely in Malaysia than Thailand to be annoyed by local people offering to be your guide or recommending a 'nice' place, etc.
6 :
Malaysia of course !! 1.they hav unstable goverment .. who like to fight one another 2.their cant get the support of the people when they increase the price. so, in Malaysia, u can do anything, the people juz smile
7 :
Thailand over Malaysia for the attitude of the people but i'm still gonna stick to staying in Singapore for the meantime.

The people you spoke to are right. Thailand is infinitely a much more livable place than its southern neighbour. I believe it is the Buddhist culturization of most everything in their society that contributes to a truly harmonious and unique people. The Thais are a remarkable people - amiable, well-mannered, tolerant, polite, hospitable and industrious. You just have to be there to experience the never-ending charms of Thailand and its wonderful people - like nothing else on earth!

why do i have a feeling tht those peeps who preferred malaysia are malaysians...? heh. i am not malaysian nor thai but have lived in both countries. my advise to you is to live in thailand. there is no comparison. you get almost all the perks of living in hongkong or singapore - like the shopping, culture, cheap airfares, expat community, etc - but the cost of living is much cheaper.
10 :
thailand because, simply, i've never been there before. but just for visiting. holidays, ya know. but, when it comes to having a home, most probably malaysia because... i'm half-malaysian and my life would 10x easier in kuala lumpur than bangkok for various reasons!
11 :
i love Thai food, yahoo!!!
12 :
Malaysia is the best

For ur information, tourist that visit Malaysia everyear is more tha 15million and it is more than people visit Singapore & Thailand ( it is not myth but fact ). Since, south Thailand crisis & Tsunami, people more believe Malaysia than Thailand. I said like that not bcoz I'm Malaysia but as people that learn about information, we must know the latest information about eveything! If you ask Thai PM, he also agree that why Thailand goverment try to bring sex industry into tourism industry! Dun mad me! Bcoz it is true! Try ask Thaksin! One more : The lowest price of petrol The 2nd lowest price of sugar All at Malaysia!
14 :
My heart is in Thailand. Thais are more genuine and are easily contented. No so in Malaysia. It is definitely more competitive to live in Malaysia than Thailand. However for holiday, I do both countries. Love to explore them.
15 :
Malaysia of course. I am not Malaysians, but I lived there for almost six years before. Communication is not that much of a problem, chances of people understanding English is pretty high. Cheap food, good food. Not as polluted, noisy and steamy as in Bangkok. One of the major hub for airlines stopover point, meaning chances of getting cheap flights to other countries from Malaysia is quite high. Goods are generally cheap, the electronics are almost a steal! And do I love the thriving mall culture! You don't have to be afraid of not having a good mall to visit! Literally ROWS of malls/hypermarkets around Bandar Utama area, Star Hills, etc. While there are some groups of people who do not like foreigners, the majority of them are pretty much indifferent to foreigners, although I have to admit that politeness and friendliness is extremely scarce in Malaysia. But, they don't bother me, I am happy to just be left alone :-). Just a piece of my mind.
16 :
You guys prefer Thailand? And getting yourself killed by the terrorists? Are you crazy? To me, Thailand and Malaysia has the exact same attractions - white pearly beaches, refreshing cool breeze, the rainforests, but Thailand has it all publicized better, and has cheap prostitutes. The only reasons for you to go to Thailand are: 1-Your wife/girlfriend is okay with the idea of you having sex with a prostitute 2-You really enjoy getting killed by terrorists 3-You also enjoy getting killed by Tsunami Malaysia has this one place called Langkawi, which is actually a part of a chained islands from Thailand. I would recommend my friends to go there.
17 :
The friendliness in Malaysia is superficial. And they have this thing called ***** sovereignty or ketuanan ******. As if they are the master race in Malaysia.

:3 I'm a Malaysian and I prefer to live in Malaysia for now. I visited Thailand several times already and it's hard to find someone who can speak English there(since Malay spoken people are almost absolutely impossible to find there). Sure, they're nice and friendly but I prefer it when I can understand whatever people said to me. It's safer that way anyway. Talk about safe... I also can't read sign written in.. uh whatever language Thailand people use. I'm quite worried if I'm going to stuck forever there if I happen to got lost there. Idk about the terrorist, bombing and all though. I mean I don't how bad it really is there so I can't really say anything about this. That's another reason why I prefer Malaysia, it's safer. Besides, if I'm going somewhere(visiting) and I happen to have child(which I don't have, yet), I wouldn't really want to go to Thailand. I mean, I was a child when I went to Thailand that one time, it's busy, no one speaks English(well, almost), prostitution is everywhere(well, yeah I know EVERYWHERE but a poster(or whatever it is called) about THAT service in a hotel?) and also since I'm a muslim, I care about my food whether it's halal(...can be eaten by muslim) or not. Everyone in Thailand... um, look almost the same to me. I mean yeah they're skin color, clothes and all...um..... So, I guess it's kinda for me to find food there if I ever want to go alone or with family without any tourist guide(yeah, it's kinda interesting and adventurous to do this sometimes). Well, in Malaysia you can easily find out if the food is halal or not, even if you can't read the sign, everyone know where to find what so just start to ask.. Yeah I agree, people in Thailand seem nicer. Maybe because they are warm greetings and always smiling that make me feel this way. Malaysian.. heh, no offense since I'm a Malaysian too, they're quite shy toward anybody they don't know(:P which including myself too) though they really wanna help you. Thailand culture is more tolerant to foreigner? Idk but yeah, I think so too. But Malaysia culture is actually tolerant to foreigner too, except there's a few limits and ettiquettes that I guess.. make the foreigner feel that Thailand is more tolerant to foreigner. But you have to understand that West people are just too open to everything(lol, almost XD). You know that.. bikini, nudist on the beaches, the too short and clingy outfit.... the limitation is just for the sake of the eyes and... eheh the children. And oh yea, the clothes when you go to some places.. like the ...dang, Idk what it's called in English but it is a mosque. You have to wear clothes provided if you wear too little clothes just for the respect to the muslim people and the mosque. Other than that, I don't think there's anymore problem with our tolerancy... :D Anyway, maybe this is just me... :) PS:Gahhh, Spellcheck feature is having problem! :P

Malaysia. No reason.
20 :
both, why? my childhood is in malaysia. and thialand. i love spicy food

I have visited both countries and lived in Malaysia for 8 months. It's hard to say one is better than the other, because they are completely different from each other. I mean completely! For example, Malaysia is a very diverse country, with Malay and Chinese and Indian cultures all mingling. While there are ethnic Chinese in Thailand, nevertheless the country is very homogeneous. The religious culture in Thailand is Buddhist while the dominant religious culture in Malaysia is Muslim (don't get any stupid ideas; they are very nice!). The written language in Thailand is not the Western (Latin) alphabet, but in Malaysia, the Western alphabet is used or everything except religious texts. The main thing the two countries have in common are beautiful beaches, extreme heat and humidity, and stunning hills and mountains. They both have fantastic food, but it's totally different in each country. The rice is much better in Thailand, but then, everyone knows Thai rice is the best in the world (except maybe the Balinese rice, which is not exported). Why not visit both countries and make up your own mind?
22 :
of cause is better to stay in malysia! nice food nice peolpe, beautiful beaches...like kuala lumpur the capital city is so fun!
23 :
I've been to both countries on a Business Trip. But I prefer the PHILIPPINES - nothing can bet their exciting nightlife and Shopping Malls (shopping malls are everywhere and I'm talking here of Very Big Malls especially the newly opened "Mall of Asia " along Manila Bay it's so huge)
24 :
Malaysia of course, more harmonies, they don't shoot people along the border. When last time u hear havoc in Malaysia compared to Thailand. When come to visitor of course people always show the nicest smile.
25 :
i moved to Malaysia for a few years and did as much traveling as i could I'm 22 and love having fun and meeting new people but on the other hand i love peace and quit and beautiful settings and Malaysia is so different i did it all, and you dint have to travel for hours to separate the two as its so diverse there, one second your walking past rice fields and riding elephants and the next second your meeting wicked people, clubbing til dawn plus the ceased lines and reefs are amazing. tel me know if you want to know more, theres so much to say.
26 :
I like to live in Malaysia... is because I'm a Malasian. Hehehe!!
27 :
Thailand. Chicks are pretty, Things are cheaper, Weapons and adult stuffs are legal where as in Malaysia no, It is a Buddhist country (because i'm Buddhist too), It's a beautiful place. The main reason - Thailand is a men's paradiso... that's why they call is 'Bangkok'.

if you are in the US you have to check it out there, nobody here know anything about there the other way is to call her by Skype, i think that is the cheapest way available
2 :
Online skype is the cheapest way to call from US to Malaysia cell phone because my local Malaysian friend now in Washington called my cell phone recently.
3 :
If you "have to" call by cell phone, there are no cheap ways, except, perhaps, by sms.(texting)
