Where would you prefer to travel/live in Malaysia

Where would you prefer to travel/live in Malaysia?
West Malaysia or East Malaysia/Borneo? Personally I would prefer East Malaysia, where there is more cultural aspects and of course, much lesser racial discrimination faced in the Semenanjung. Its a very 'different' Malaysia there. How do Malaysians feel about this?

Kuala lumpur!!

I was born in the East, stayed there for 11years, came to west malaysia, totally regret moving. I think the west part is rushing for country development, and because of that we face so many problems, including racial issues. I don't really know much, i've been living in the west part for only 7 years, & im just a kid. See what the adults have to say. goodluck.
3 :
Totally agree with you. But i prefer the jungles. Gggraawwwllll.
4 :
i would say the BIG CITIES. Penang, KL, Johore.
5 :
it would be Penang.....A nice, peaceful and beautiful island........white sandy beaches...hills............
6 :
EAST east east!!!!yeeeeehhhhaaaaaa........
7 :
Give me Kuching anytime. The city adopts a "laid back" style - we go about doing our business in a leisurely pace, so less stressful. Although we have traffic jam, it mostly occurs during rush hour & even then, not as bad as in KL, Penang or JB. Plenty of greens & parks in the city centre, the latest addition being Malaysia-China Friendship Park. The Waterfront, Padang Merdeka, Sarawak Museum & surrounding areas are popular with locals & tourists alike. The natives (Iban/Bidayuh) formed the majority of the population followed by Malay, Chinese but very few Indians. That's why we don't declare Deepavali holiday here. All races get on well with each other. Why not come to Kuching & see for yourself: 3D/2N is sufficient although if you wish to visit a longhouse, you may have to add in an extra day.
8 :
Kuching, Penang and Malacca.

Discrimination? It happens everywhere regardless you in Asia or Europe even in the North America and Africa. Therefore, I would say, I do not mind living anywhere in the Malaysia. It a matter of preferences and priorities! The most importantly, find your surviving skills because discrimination happens anywhere.

East Malaysia like Kuching and Kota Kinabalu are beautiful and laid-back. However, I found these 2 cities have problem with petty crimes and illegal immigrants. I prefer Penang and Kuala Lumpur or even Malacca.
11 :
no duh !

I live in KL and I love it here. Although I am not Malaysian, I know a lot of people from Sabah and Sarawak who have moved to KL due to lack of advancement in East Malaysia. Although East Malaysia is culturally rich and has retained most of it values and heritage, I'd still prefer the hustle and bustle of KL!
13 :
i would prefer west malaysia.. Kelantan or terengganu.. cheap stuff & ppl quite polite..
14 :
live- east...but i like to travel to west to have my shopping spree
15 :
If u say u wanna live in city..i don see johor or even peneng is alot better then kota kinabalu....if u say u need a rest i can say kota kinabalu have plenty of world class island and nature park and if u like nature i can tell u World Heritage site only can found in Sabah n Sarawak. So,what do u think>?

You will need to apply for tourism visa... You can apply whether from Embassy or from any Singapore Airlines office... It's easy to get visa, the only problem you will get only 21 days tourism visa as usual! Good Luck... Mina
2 :
Eligibility Foreigners holding ordinary passports issued by the following Assessment Level I Countries will require either a Business or Social Visit visa to enter Singapore: India* Myanmar* Nigeria* People’s Republic of China (PRC)† Commonwealth of Independent States†: Armenia Azerbaijan Belarus Georgia Kazakhstan Kyrgyzstan Moldova Russia Tajikistan Turkmenistan Ukraine ~ Uzbekistan AND Holders of: Hong Kong Document of Identity Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Travel Permit * Holders of Diplomatic, Official and Service passports are exempted from visa requirements. † Holders of Diplomatic, Official, Service and Public Affairs passports are exempted from visa requirements for a stay of up to 30 days. ~ Holders of Diplomatic, Official and Service passports are exempted from visa requirements for a stay of up to 90 days. So the list above includes passport of Nigeria. Your residenship in Malaysia has nothing to do for Singapore, so its not a exemption of visa proof.
3 :
Yes, you need a visa to visit Singapore. the reputation of Nigerian is world known. So too bad if you happen to be a good citizen of Nigeria.
4 :
call ur embassy

Singapore There is some informationg about the two countries.especially some introduction about asian countries .
2 :
Singapore, duh!
3 :
It's a no brainer - Singapore without a doubt.
4 :
SIngapore.
5 :
Singapore of course. Sorry to say but Singapore is in every ways more impressive and superior than Malaysia.
6 :
Definitely Singapore!
7 :
if you are below 35 yrs old.. your answer would DEFINETELY be SINGAPORE 99.99% of the time But If you are like me who is above that age , MALAYSIA is a viable option. Reasons : Cost of living (Cheap petrol, utilities, cars, food, ciggy etc etc) Land that u could own (Land yes not aprtment out of thin air) Furthermore u said if you are born ... see a lot of Malaysian also come to Singapore to study and work.. after that go back Malaysia. Even there's a question here of someone wanting to bring their dog into Malaysis .. by the way there are no SUPERIOR Country between one and another ... to think that Singapore is superior is just a thinking of a frog under the rock
8 :
Work and make $$ in Singapore, when you get rich go Malaysia, change to M$ and become richer. Stay there and live like a KING!
9 :
If I had the chance then i will work in Singapore and live in Malaysia as Malaysia is cheaper than Singapore. But since Singapore is safer, Singapore will be a better place to stay than Malaysia, as I can always head into Malaysia anytime anyway.
10 :
Malaysia. Why? 1. A lot of places to travel or to live in. - from mountains, islands, beaches, forest, villages to different types of cities and towns. 2. Almost everything cheaper than Singapore.. - land, houses, utilities, rental prices, foods, goods, etc... 3. Good facilities, accommodation, transportation, etc... 4. Variety of foods. From western to middle east... from Malay to Chinese cuisine. Name it, I think Malaysia has it all. 5. Different ethnics (multi-racial) and cultures that we can learn. 6. Political stability which bring peace. (quite stable although I have to admit Singapore is better) 7. Good administration and law enforcement. (Singapore also better) 8. Friendly people. 9. Good educational system. (Although not as good as Singapore) 10. Better air quality... no doubt. You may go everywhere you want to go in Malaysia. To feel fresh air at the beautiful islands, beaches, highlands.. to or to run away from city havoc to the traditional villages or forest... etc. To be fair, Singapore has good government too, richer, higher standard of living, better educational system and facilities... But I prefer to stay in Malaysia because of its size...and you know what I mean. I've explained to you before... I like Singapore too... but I have to admit that living in Malaysia is much better. Hope this will help your justification.
